ق ب ل Form 8
May 14, 2026
The general meaning
In Form 8, the root ق ب ل takes on a reflexive or inceptive meaning through the infix ـتـ. It conveys the idea of taking the very beginning of something, receiving or engaging with the first part of a period, an action, or a life.
As a result, Form 8 words built from ق ب ل relate to starting, beginning, or being at the very outset of something.
Note: This form is rare in verbal usage, but the passive participle مُقْتَبَل is well attested, particularly in the expression في مُقْتَبَلِ العُمر meaning “in the first years of age / while young.”
