ع ر ض Form 8

The general meaning

In Form 8, the root ع ر ض takes on a reflexive and confrontational meaning through the infix ـتـ. It conveys the idea of placing oneself broadside in the way of something, of standing in the path of another, blocking them, or raising an objection. This is the standard word in Arabic for objecting, protesting, or standing in someone’s way.

As a result, Form 8 words built from ع ر ض relate to objecting, protesting, obstructing, or raising formal opposition.
